Break During the Workday

Viimati uuendatud: 19.02.2017

Employee must be provided a break during the workday for eating and resting. After working 6 hours, the employee is entitled to rest for at least 30 minutes, but the employer can enable the 30-minute break to the employee also sooner. The 30-minute break must be allowed to minors after 4.5-hour work, at the latest.

As a general rule, breaks during the workday are not calculated as working time. Break during the workday is only considered as working time when, due to the nature of the work tasks, it is impossible to give a break. In this case, the employee must be able to rest and dine during the work time.
