Labour Inspectorate

In Estonia, the contact institution for employees is the Labour Inspectorate.

The Labour Inspectorate is a government agency operating in the area of government of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, which exercises state supervision and applies state enforcement on the bases and to the extent prescribed by law. Its main tasks include implementing occupational health and safety policies, conducting state supervision over compliance with occupational health, safety, and employment relationship regulations, informing the public, employees, and employers about workplace hazards, and resolving labor disputes in pre-court labor dispute bodies.

The Labour Inspectorate oversees the working conditions of posted workers in Estonia and responds to justified information requests regarding laws, other legal acts, and extended collective agreements applicable to posted workers. Additionally, it organizes information exchange with other member states.

The Labour Inspectorate provides free advisory services to both employees and employers. If you have questions about registering posted workers to Estonia or their working conditions, you can contact the Labour Inspectorate's advisory lawyer or occupational health and safety consultant. The advisory lawyer addresses questions related to employment relationships, while the occupational health and safety consultant deals with questions concerning workplace safety and occupational health.

The Labour Inspectorate offers advisory services via phone (+372 640 6000) and email [email protected]. The advisory service is free of charge.
